Believe it or not, a service horse is a real thing.

About a decade ago, there was a distinct rise in people claiming that their pet was not, in fact, a pet, but an “emotional support animal.” This was both good and bad, but mostly bad.

The good: Greater awareness meant that those with actual emotional support animals now had more resources to actually prove their need for the creature, plus it stopped landlords from enforcing bullshit no-pets policies. The bad: People started to think that every single service animal was instead an “emotional support animal” and began being ass-licks to people who have them.

For example, this guy had a genuine service horse (it’s a real thing, I promise). However, the old guy blocking the door wasn’t believing it, and so, he tried to stop him from entering (which is a crime).
