While it may have taken an explosive memoir, the wrath of one very fed-up Zoey 101 star and Drake Bell publicly revealing he was sexually abused as a minor working for Nickelodeon, disgraced kids TV overlord Dan Schneider has finally expressed an iota of remorse over his time at the network.

On Tuesday, the former producer, who left Nickelodeon back in 2018, headed to his DanWarp YouTube channel with responses to the allegations against him and other Nickelodeon higherups in ID’s explosive new docuseries, Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.

“Watching over the past two nights was very difficult — me facing my past behaviors, some of which are embarrassing and that I regret,” he told actor BooG!e, who appeared on iCarly, one of the nine Schneider’s Bakery series that aired on Nickelodeon.  “I definitely owe some people a pretty strong apology.”

So who exactly landed a mea culpa from the now-infamous TV guru? Alongside the people he asked to massage him on set — “I apologize to anybody that I ever put in that situation” — and the writers who were subjected to inappropriate jokes while working on his series —  “Wouldn’t happen today, but I’m just really sorry it happened” —  Schneider offered some more generic words of remorse to the actors and crew members subjected to his bulls—t.

“When I watched the show, I could see the hurt in some people’s eyes, and it made me feel awful and regretful and sorry,” he explained. “I wish I could go back, especially to those earlier years of my career, and bring the growth and the experience that I have now and just do a better job and never, ever feel like it was OK to be an asshole to anyone, ever.”

While it’s unclear whether or not these words of remorse will actually make things better (they won’t) one thing is certain — to quote @kirawontmiss, “Dan Schnider is going to hell.”
