In case you wanted any more proof that the Earth is incredibly tired of our **** and is fighting back with a vengeance, may I introduce to you two bananas weather phenomena: avalanche tornadoes and fire tornadoes.

As if tornadoes weren’t terrifying enough on their own — just ask Dorothy — wind is now joining forces with the other elements like a Captain Planet episode come to life.

Earlier this month, firefighters in British Columbia had to contend with a “fire tornado” that occurred as a result of the ongoing wildfires in the province. The footage shared by Canada’s Global News was taken by personnel fighting fires at Downton Lake north of Pemberton.

The phenomenon is the result of extremely low humidity, a raging fire and a cold front all combining to create an “intensely rotating column of gas and flame” that’s also known as a fire whirl.

Meanwhile, other tornadoes are seeking out the power of ice, as shown in another TikTok where a tornado can be seen passing over snow-capped mountains, sucking the snow up into the tornado as it travels. As a Redditor suggested, perhaps this tornado avalanche is the only possible antidote to the fire tornado.

Thanks to climate change, it’s likely that extreme weather events will become more and more common — between wildfires across much of the Northern Hemisphere this summer alongside freak hailstorms and fire and ice tornados, Earth is making her dissatisfaction with our treatment of her known.
