The only thing that can sway a judge more than a highly-paid team of celebrity lawyers? A rando screaming “Free Thug!”
That was the philosophy one Young Thug fan evidently held this week, after hacking into the YSL trial’s Zoom call, proceeding to vouch for the “Go Crazy’ artist.
LISTEN: As court was about to take a break in the Young Thug YSL Rico trial Wednesday, a Zoom bomber made their support for the famed rapper known.

"Free Thug, mistrial! Free Thug, mistrial!" the unknown fan yelled after popping up on the call.
Though the Judge, clearly unamused with the hacker’s antics, decided to call a recess, the fan was still determined to get their message across.
"Free Thug! Mistrial! Free Thug! Mistrial!" they repeated as the courtroom cleared.
While the interruption, which came about during the trial’s 16th day, quickly went viral, legal journalist Meghann Cuniff quickly headed to Twitter with the question on every legal analyst’s lips — why would anyone want a mistrial?
“Someone watching the Young Thug trial on court's Zoom yelled, ‘FREE THUG! MISTRIAL!’ after the judge called a break this morning, which begs the question: Why would anyone think a mistrial is the best outcome for Thug here?” Cuniff captioned her upload of the now-viral video.
“Thug's fans should be rooting hard for an acquittal,” she explained, noting that simply yelling the word “mistrial” can’t magically manifest a mistrial.
“It's basically a sure thing that if there were to be a mistrial (there won't), the prosecutors will retry everyone,” she elaborated in a follow-up tweet. “The rally cry really should be ‘Free Thug! Not guilty!’ or ‘Free Thug! Acquit!’"

With Cuniff — who was dubbed Meghann Thee Reporter after covering Tory Lanez’ legal battles — sharing her words of legal wisdom, may we offer an alternative slogan for anyone looking to hack into any future YSL trial Zoom calls — “if the lyrics are lit, you must acquit.”
