World champion competitive eater Joey Chestnut recently ticked another achievement off his bucket list, managing to put away 200 chicken wings in under 38 wings as part of a collaboration with Buffalo Wild Wings.

To commemorate the special occasion, Chestnut took a photo holding up a piece of paper with the number “200” written on it, leading people to call the photo “our generation’s Wilt picture,” a reference to the iconic photo of Wilt Chamberlain holding up a piece of paper with “100” written on it after he scored 100 points in a game in which the Philadelphia Warriors defeated the New York Knicks back in 1962.

Buffalo Wild Wings publicly challenged Chestnut to eat 200 boneless wings in a tweet earlier this week. To which he responded, “Challenge accepted! 200 will be a record for generations!” Thanks to Chestnut successfully completing the challenge, Buffalo Wild Wings will be extending their All You Can Eat special until August 14th.

Chestnut is ranked first in the world by Major League Eating, and is perhaps most famous for his participation in the annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. In 2007, he defeated six-time champion Tsunami Kobayashi by chowing down on a record 66 hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes, and successfully defended the title until 2014, setting another record of 69 hot dogs in 2013.

After losing the contest in 2015, he won again in 2016 by eating 70 hot dogs, and held onto the title until last year; he set the current record in 2021 with 76 hot dogs. Tragically, he was banned from competing in the 2024 contest due to a conflict of interest as a result of his partnership with Impossible Foods.

But he hasn’t turned to chicken wings for good. Chestnut is set to compete against his old rival Kobayashi this September in a live-streamed Netflix event titled Chestnut vs Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef.
