What Are Guitar Strings?

Each guitar string represents a single note that you can play with your guitar. Guitar fretboard notes are made of these notes. If you will not press on any string, you are going to play an open string. It is important to know which string plays which note. Otherwise, it will be impossible for you to read or play any musical tab.

The first string, which is also the thinnest, is the e string. The last string, which is the thickest and sixth string, is the E string. The second, third, fourth, and fifth strings are B, G, D, and A strings, respectively.

The second string starts with open B. You can play natural notes on seven frets in total. These frets are 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, and 12. You need to practice this string until you are comfortable with pressing each fret in a comfortable way.

Just like all the strings, this one also starts with the open note and it is G. This time natural notes are available on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th, and 12th frets. It is important to practice this string very well until you can play all notes without any challenge.
