Google has become a bit of an evil company, collecting our data and probably selling it to the government, tracking all of our searches, and just generally acting like a real-life 1984 Big Brother entity. But we have to admit, Google Maps is an amazing gift that we’re extremely grateful for.

Maps is obviously great because it acts as a visual encyclopedia that contains the entire world, but it’s also often unintentionally hilarious and fascinating. The Street View function is a constant documentary of everyday human life, and human life gets really weird and funny. Some of the best moments from Street View include people skiing on dry land, an army of people in pigeon costumes, a lot of people doing their bathroom business in the street, and some things that are completely bizarre and unexplainable. There’s also some images the government definitely doesn’t want you to see, like shadowy military bases, research centers, and stealth military jets flying around in broad daylight.

All of that is topped off with the times the camera’s panorama function messes up and creates odd, otherworldly images, some amazing nature moments, and many other strange, laugh-worthy snapshots.
