5th Graders Celebrate Graduation By Playing Lil Jon On Recorders
Turn down for what? Definitely not a fifth-grade graduation.
Earlier this week, Podcaster Kelli France took to TikTok with a glimpse at what her son’s fifth-grade class did to commemorate their elementary school graduation, treating parents, teachers, and attendees alike to a rousing, recorder rendition of DJ Snake and Lil Jon’s “Turn Down For What.”
“My son graduated 5th grade,” she wrote atop of the video, depicting her child’s entire class sporting blue leis as the rapper’s 2013 hit began ramping up to the drop in the background. “Here’s how it went.”
As soon as Lil Jon uttered the iconic lyrics of “fire up that loud, another round of shots,” the students reached behind their backs to reveal an orchestra of multi-colored recorders, playing along with the song’s famous drop, the crowd cheering and laughing at the performance.
Though unfortunately for the parents, the instruments were for keeps – “Lucky us! We get to keep the recorders,” France captioned the clip.
To paraphrase commenter @kellymeyers87, it sure as hell beats “Hot Crossed Buns.”
