How to Always Win a Coin Flip According to NASA Engineer

Former NASA Engineer Mark Rober went on the hit show, "Hot Ones," to reveal some secrets, and eat some spicy wings. Near the end of the interview it is revealed that he has a crazy, and quite useful skill. He can win any coin toss, and can make a coin land heads or tails every time. The answer? Not luck, not magic, but science.

According to Rober, tossing the coin in a specific way causes it to rotate on its axis in such a way that the side it is flipped up with never rotates over during its flight. Thus if you catch the coin, if will be caught with the same face up as when you tossed it.

Unfortunately for those who want to take advantage of this trick, most events that use coin tosses to make important decisions, like in football games for example, allow the coin to hit the ground, resulting in the subsequent bouncing choosing a truly random winner.
