He may have scored, but at what cost?

The Rube Goldberg machine seems like the antithesis of our contemporary culture. The idea behind these machines is to make a simple task as painstaking and convoluted as possible — a harsh contrast to the one-click quickness that we now crave in our everyday lives.

Still, there are some people cranking out these machines, and they can get pretty crazy. For example, this guy made a machine to shoot a basketball, and dear God does it go through a lot of twists and turns.
