We Now Know What the Titan Submersible Sounded Like Before It Went Kaboom
Remember when those rich people tried to visit the Titanic in a homemade submarine?
The Titan Submersible story was one of those events that really brought the world together. While there was some initial sympathy, much of it was lost as more details came out about the submersible, its manufacturer and all of the details surrounding the event. I’m sorry, you paid $250,000 to sit in a shitty tube piloted by a video-game controller? And you thought nothing bad was going to happen?!?!
In the years following, we’ve gotten a lot more information about just how bad everything about OceanGate and its practices were, but we were given scant little information about the crash itself. Now, we have another piece of the puzzle: the sound the submersible actually made when it popped.
Now, it’s not much, but it *is* something. Is there anything to learn from this? Probably not. I guess, just don’t get into someone’s homemade submarine. But if you need that advice, you’re not smart enough to listen to it.
